Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Week 4

As the NFL season progresses into Week 4, fantasy managers face the critical task of securing talent to help solidify their rosters. Below are key waiver wire additions by position, featuring players with rising roles, injury replacements, or high-upside potential for the weeks to come.

Quarterbacks

        1.      Sam Darnold (Vikings)
Darnold has emerged as a viable starter in fantasy leading this high-powered offense in Minnesota. Darnold could thrive given the playmakers around him.
        2.      Justin Fields (Steelers)
Fields has been adequate early this season, but his rushing upside remains valuable in fantasy football. If he’s on your waiver wire and you’re in need of a QB, his big-play potential is worth stashing as the Steelers’ offense finds its rhythm. He does not want to give the starting gig back to Russell Wilson.
        3.      Daniel Jones (Giants)
Jones is a boom-or-bust option, but his ability to contribute on the ground combined with occasional big passing games makes him worth consideration. With favorable matchups ahead, he could be a solid streaming option.
        4.      Andy Dalton (Panthers)
While Bryce Young has been sidelined with injuries, Dalton has performed admirably as a veteran presence. If he remains the starter for another week or two, he could serve as a valuable short-term fix for fantasy teams in need of a QB.

Running Backs

        1.      Bucky Irving (Bucaneers)
The rookie running back has been a revelation in Tampa Bay, working his way into a timeshare with Rachaad White. With explosive plays in limited touches, Irving is a high-upside addition who could take over a larger share of the backfield.
        2.      Braelon Allen (Jets)
Allen is beginning to carve out a role in New York’s backfield. He’s a power runner who could get more touches as the season progresses, making him a valuable stash in deeper leagues. Get him now!
        3.      Chuba Hubbard (Panthers)
Hubbard has seen increased usage. His role in the passing game also gives him some weekly flex appeal in PPR formats.
        4.      Carson Steele (Chiefs)
With the Chiefs’ backfield dealing with injuries, Steele has emerged as a surprising contributor. Steele has earned touches and could be a solid option in the coming weeks.
        5.      Alexander Mattison (Raiders)
If he’s available in your league, he’s worth a look.
        6.      Roschon Johnson (Bears)
Johnson continues saw a considerable workload in week 3, and his role in the passing game makes him valuable in PPR leagues. As the season progresses, his workload could increase, making him a valuable stash for the long term.
        7.      Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Chiefs)
CEH has been out dealing with PTSD. His familiarity with the offense and the recent injuries in KC, it makes him worth an add. He could see touches when he returns to the Chiefs’ backfield.

Wide Receivers

        1.      Jauan Jennings (49ers)
Jennings carried San Francisco’s offense this past week with his monster performance! While he won’t be the primary cog in the offense all season long, he’s got a hot hand and is worthy of a start in week 4.
        2.      Wan’Dale Robinson (Giants)
Robinson has seen an uptick in targets as the Giants try to establish consistency in their receiving corps. His quickness and ability to make plays after the catch make him a valuable add, especially in PPR formats.
        3.      Jalen Nailor (Vikings)
With Justin Jefferson commanding most of the attention, Nailor has emerged as a touchdown threat for Minnesota.
        4.      Luke McCaffrey (Commanders)
The younger McCaffrey has flashed his playmaking ability, of late. He’s a deep-league flyer with the potential to carve out a bigger role as the season moves forward.
        5.      Damario Douglas (Patriots)
Douglas has become a key target in New England’s receiving rotation. His speed and versatility offer some upside, especially in a Patriots offense that is desperate for playmakers.
        6.      Jalen Tolbert (Cowboys)
Tolbert has shown flashes of his potential this season and is a nice stash in deeper leagues. As the Cowboys offense finds its footing, Tolbert’s big-play ability could come into play.

7. Darnell Mooney (Falcons)

Mooney was targeted in key situations in week 3. He clearly has a skillset that the Falcons need right now.

Tight Ends

        1.      Cole Kmet (Bears)
Kmet had a massive week 3 performance. If he’s still available in your league, he’s a top priority at the tight end position, given the lackluster start of the season collectively at the position.
        2.      Mike Gesicki (Bengals)
While inconsistent, Gesicki has the athleticism and red-zone potential to be a difference-maker in fantasy. The Bengals’ offense has been looking for answers, and Gesicki could be featured more as the season progresses.
        3.      Tyler Conklin (Jets)
Conklin can be a solid option in PPR leagues, and if the Jets’ offense can find its rhythm, he could have weekly value at the tightend position.
        4.      Brenton Strange (Jaguars)
Strange has filled in for Evan Engram and is a viable start in fantasy for the time being.

Conclusion:

Waiver wire pickups are all about identifying trends and seizing opportunities before others catch on. As we head into Week 4, consider stashing some of these players for both immediate help and long-term potential. Whether you’re dealing with injuries or looking for depth, the waiver wire can be a season-saver if you act quickly!
